Dionne Bussey Reeder has dedicated more than 25 years to strengthening communities, advancing youth development, and leading transformative initiatives across Washington, D.C.

She has led impactful programs including a college preparation initiative that helped hundreds of District high school seniors successfully navigate college admissions and financial aid. She also contributed to the management of the $9 million Local Law Enforcement Block Grant and the Youth Violence Prevention Initiative.

While serving in the Office of Neighborhood Services, she worked with community leaders to close open-air drug markets in Southeast Washington, D.C., and supported churches in building youth development programming.

At FSFSC, Dionne has served as Principal Deputy, Community Engagement Director, and Program Director, overseeing approximately $2 million annually in grants supporting youth and families in Ward 8.

Leadership & Impact

Dionne helped secure FSFSC’s permanent headquarters and bring the first Busboys and Poets east of the Anacostia River—creating jobs and expanding community resources.

In 2019, she ran for an At-Large seat on the D.C. City Council, earning nearly 50,000 votes in one of the city’s most talked-about races.

She became the first first-time candidate endorsed by Mayor Muriel Bowser over an incumbent and received endorsements from The Washington Post, The Washington Blade, The Georgetown Current, and numerous civic leaders.
